## Shomadhan: South Asia's Angie's List, built and exited. Acquired.

A pioneering hyper-local two-sided marketplace connecting service providers with consumers across South Asia. From architecture to launch to acquisition, Kensink owned the full lifecycle as CTO and lead architect.

01 · THE PROBLEM

## Where they were stuck.

South Asia had no Angie's List. Consumers had no trusted way to find verified service providers; providers had no way to build a reputation outside their physical neighborhood. The market needed a marketplace with strong verification, mobile-first UX (smartphone penetration was the lever), and economics that worked at micro-transaction scale.

02 · OUR APPROACH

## How we built it.

- 01 Two-sided marketplace architecture: provider supply + consumer demand modeled separately, matching engine in the middle
- 02 Mobile-first launch: consumer app + provider app launched the same week, on platforms users actually had (Android first)
- 03 Verification flow that worked offline: physical visits + NID checks + customer ratings, all surfaced as badges on provider profiles
- 04 Payment processing tuned to micro-transactions: local mobile money providers and cash all supported, each with different settlement economics modeled into the platform fee
- 05 Operational scale: dispatcher console for the central team to manage edge cases at human speed. This is what acquirers actually buy

> “Building a marketplace is mostly about edge cases at scale. The platform Kensink built handled the long tail without operational headcount. That's what made the company acquirable.”
